What is an AB or AG fuse?:
Many fuse sizes began with the early “Automobile Glass” fuses, with the erm “AG”. Numbers were applied chronologically as manufacturers made a new size available: “3AG,” for example, was the third size placed on the market. Other non-glass fuse sizes and materials were determined by functional requirements, but they still retained the length or diameter dimensions of the glass fuses. Their designation was modified to AB in place of AG, indicating that the outer tube was constructed from Bakelite, fiber, ceramic, or material other than glass.
Are Fuses Directional?
Maybe. We recommend all fuses, even those with directional arrows, be tried both ways. It's circuit and component dependent. Sometimes there may be no real difference and other times it will be obvious which direction works best. We know it can be a pain to move your equipment around, but it's all in the search for the best audio fidelity.
Ceramic Fuse Compatibility
It has been found that some equipment with no inrush protection may destroy Ceramic body fuses. It is recommended that a potential fuse customer first try a stock ceramic body fuse before ordering the Acme Fuses.
CFC - Formerly known as "Special Sauce"
